KERAMIKOS - Coming Soon to Kickstarter

Our newest game "Keramikos" will be coming in early November to Kickstarter.  The game is a press-your-luck set collection card game.   In the game, each players is an treasure-hunting archaeologist racing to find the most pieces of ancient Greek pottery in a newly found excavation site.

Will you proceed with caution to ensure you are thoughtful and careful about your digging spot or will you go with reckless abandon and do whatever it takes to beat your fellow treasure seekers at any cost to the stability of the dig site?

How to Play

You are on an archaeological dig in the hills of Greece.  Word has spread of your excavation of ancient Greek pottery. Other archaeologists and treasure hunters have also begun to dig near your site.  It's a race against time, where you have to weight the safety of playing it slowly with caution, or risk everything by digging quickly and recklessly.

Setup

  1. Find seven (7) dig site cards and place them in a straight light in the middle of the table from lowest dice roll value to the highest.

  2. Shuffle the remaining cards which include pottery and special cards.

  3. Draw a pottery card and place it under a matching dig site based on the "level" value on the pottery card and the dig site.  Repeat until you cannot place a card in an empty dig site.  Place that last card in a matching level.

  4. Roll to see which player will go first.  You are now ready to play.

Game Play

  1. ROLL. Roll the two (2) dice.

  2. MARK. Place a marker on the top-most pottery card (nearest to the dig site) on the matching dig site.

    - Doubles. If you roll doubles, you can choose to place the marker on the matching dig site or place the marker on a pottery card below a card that already has one of your markers on it.  Continue your turn.

    - Empty Dig Site.  If there are no pottery cards on that dig site, place the marker on that dig site and take any level one pottery card.  Continue your turn.  If there are no cards in Level 1, continue your turn.

    - Burn a Card.  You can discard one of the pottery cards in front of you (face up in the discard pile) to reroll the dice.  Continue your turn.

    - Already Marked. If there is already a marker on that dig site, your turn is over and you do not to collect any marked pottery cards.  Draw as many cards as you had placed markers and place them on dig sites.  You must distribute the pottery cards as evenly as possible.  It is now the next players turn (skip step 3).

  3. CHOOSE.  You can roll again (repeat step 1).  Or you can end your turn.  Take all of the pottery cards that contain a marker and place them face up in front of you.  If one of the dig sites does not have any cards, draw as many cards as you had placed markers and place them on dig sites matching their level number.  You must distribute the pottery cards as evenly as possible.  It is now the next players turn.

End of the Game

The game ends once the last card is placed on a dig site.  Each player will now get one final turn.

Once complete, all players count up the points on their pottery cards:

- Incomplete pottery sets are worth 1 point for every two pieces.

- A complete pottery set is worth a total of the number of points in the top-right corner of the card.  For example, if you have three (3) matching pottery cards that complete the set, that set of cards is worth a total of 8 points (it is not worth 24 points).

- In the event of a tie, the player with the most pottery cards wins (do not count incomplete sets in this count).  If there is still a tie the player with the most completed level 4 sets wins.  If there is still a tie than the player with the most level 3 sets wins (then level 2, then level 1).  If there is still a tie, both players win.
